How to build a 4-Watts Fluorescent light using a disposable camera, powered by one 1.5 Volts battery. (5/29/2006)
A flash circuit have a hi-voltage oscillator and transformer. It generates about 300 Volts AC & DC. The circuit inside a disposable camera with flash can be used for many other applications, this time, I built a 4W fluorescent light powered by one 1.5 Volts battery.
I Used a FUJI camera, it was the cheapest one. Many parts of this camera can be used, even the film can be removed and returned without returning the camera.
After removing the cardboard, is possible to remove the battery and the film. I opened the camera with extreme care because it contains lethal voltages. Also, I saved the lens because I can build a microscope with it.
Before working with the circuit, the capacitor should be completely discharged. This is a dangerous project, do not touch the circuit while removing it, in fact, DO NOT BUILD THIS PROJECT. Read the disclaimer at the main menu.

This picture shows the parts that need to be removed. The 10k resistor, neon light and the Hi voltage coil can be removed also.
